On National Voter Registration Day, Timberwolves, Lynx and T-Wolves Gaming turned to Urban Ventures, a nonprofit organization seeking to break the cycle of poverty in South Minneapolis, to provide voter data and resources to the local community.
“Tonight, it’s about being here in Southern Minneapolis, interacting with other people who live in those communities and may not get a chance to sign up,” said Ethan Casson, general manager of Timberwolves and Lynx. “We are very happy to be here. It’s about education, awareness and resources. “
Wednesday’s occasion marked the first of several “Pack the Vote” projects in use in the Twin Cities, which served as an extension of a long-standing partnership between the organization and Urban Ventures.
“The Timberwolves and Lynx have been a wonderful spouse to us,” said Dave Hawn, president and CEO of Urban Ventures. “The organization cares about this community and they have invested in it and us. “
On Friday, wolves and lynxes will enroll in some other network in the Twin Cities to increase voter registration while providing resources and education to voters.
