According to a report by the trusty Samuel Luckhurst, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave Timothy Fosu-Mensah the opportunity to identify himself as a long-term option at Manchester United next season.
Fosu-Mensah, 22, has been on Old Trafford’s books since 2014.
The flexible defender moved to Manchester from Dutch giant Ajax and temporarily established himself as one of United’s most beloved young talents.
This led Fosu-Mensah to make his Red Devils debut through compatriot Louis Van Gaal in 2016.
And, generally, despite his years of tenderness, the single bumper continued to score 8 Premier League appearances in the 2015-16 campaign, adding a couple of starts.
As such, Manchester United enthusiasts may have been forgiven for speculating that their team had discovered a true budding star, who possesses all the talents needed to play a key role in the club’s colours in the coming years.

The seasons since then, however, have noticed that this result is far from the case.
Fosu-Mensah, until this week, had been in the Premier League in four other events for United, the last of which came on the last day of the 2016-17 campaign.
An era of loan at Fulham last season saw the Dutch fighting abroad for form, with a long-term injury in April 2019 after seeing Fosu-Mensah’s playing time with Manchester United under-23s still limited.
As such, he had remained, for a time, utterly doubtful whether those in a position of strength at Old Trafford were making plans and a long-term career form at the club for their young defender who once boasted.
United recently opted to cause a one-year contract extension in Fosu-Mensah’s contract, however, this was noticed more as a measure to protect its moving price than anything else, with the previous agreement expiring this summer.

All this, however, came before Fosu-Mensah, giving a glimpse into his future on Thursday night.
Following injuries to Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams, the Dutchman had to impress as a left-back in the Red Devils Premier League game with Crystal Palace.
And, according to the latest media reports, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was so inspired by Fosu-Mensah’s demonstration at Selhurst Park that the United coach was again convinced of the 22-year-old’s long-term potential. role in the club.
According to Samuel Luckhurst’s report from the Manchester Evening News, Fosu-Mensah will be sold this summer.
That comes before the flexible defender has one last chance to show up at Old Trafford next season.
