LILLE, France (AP) – American foreigner Timothy Weah made his return from injury as a vanquished replacement for French club Lille on Sunday.
Weah, 20, faced Turkish striker Burak Yalmaz in the 78th minute in a 1-0 win in Reims. He had a chance to score the time off when he broke into the penalty domain on the right but missed the goal.
Weah suffered a tear in the hamstring on 16 February against Marseille on his return to the festival with Lille, after a six-month break due to the same injury.
Weah, son of former FIFA World Player and current Liberian President George Weah, joined Lille from Paris Saint-Germain last year.
