These are graves of Marseille Olympic supporters who wanted, specifically in the Saint-Pierre or Aygalades cemetery, to remain for eternity in the colors of their favorite club, the demonstration of a visceral attachment.
Ce travail artistique a été réalisé en collaboration avec un photographe spécialiste de l’art funéraire, Émille Barret.
Upon arrival, you are greeted by Emmanuelle Luciani or by Elie Chich, the director of this Pavillon Southwest post. In this large room with red touches on the floor, formerly a mecger room, dozens of photos of graves with many blue and white objects.
For many, these memories have not yet been acquired in the department stores of funerary art, made through the deceased family: figurines, custom-designed ceramic globes, stones engraved with the colors of the Olympique de Marseille. Emmanuelle Luciani underlines: “What we have discovered is quite joyful. It is true that a grave is something very important, sacred, but in Marseille we learned that there is a kind of resistance in cemeteries throughout the history of OM. “
Here, the very strong attachment to the Olympic Club is also present according to Emmanuelle Luciani “through epitaphs, proof of the solidity of the supporters’ clubs that will write a tribute to one of their own on, for example, marble not present. C. C. ” It’s very express in Marseille. “
And among the essentials of this exhibition, a huge photograph of the tomb of Bernard Tapie, former head of the OM, buried a few hundred meters away in the cemetery of Mazargues.
“Fútbol Funéral” will take place until January 30 at 433 rue Michelet, in the 9th arrondissement of Marseille, from Tuesday to Friday from 2 p. m. to 6 p. m. , by reservation via email at this address: hello@southwaystudio. com
