Welsh goalkeeper Tom King scored the longest goal in history for Newport County against Cheltenham Town on January 19.
With an intentional kick, the Wales international, aided by the strong winds of the night, controlled to loop over Joshua Griffiths a few rebounds to set a new Guinness World Record.
The target breaks the past record set by Bosnian goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, whose 2013 goal for Stoke City against Southampton was set at 91. 9 metres.
King’s effort is now placed in the records, as it measured a distance of 96. 01 meters.
Newport County is known for its impressive character, having beaten Watford in the League Cup and, in 2019, controlled to remove Premier League giants Leicester City from the FA Cup.
