Lyon’s UEFA Champions League streak continued surprisingly on Saturday.
The French team earned a pair of goals in the second half of Moussa Dembele to beat Manchester City 3–1.
To succeed in the semi-finals, Lyon eliminated two named contenders: Juventus in the 16th circular and Manchester City in the quarter-finals in a game.
Manchester City was disappointed by some defensive deficiencies, but still created a lot to get back into the game.
Lyon will now do the unthinkable and beat a third consecutive European giant in the semi-final against Bayern Munich on Wednesday in Lisbon, Portugal.
Winners and losers of Saturday’s quarter-finals
Winner: Moussa Dembele
The taste of Dembélé’s arrival is similar to what Paris Saint-Germain won when Kylian Mbappé came here to win the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old French striker added an instant spark to Lyon’s attack and set aside the two he had.
In the 79th minute, he ran to the Goal of Man City untouched after receiving the ball in a charming style from Karl Toko Ekambi, who kept the game in play.
