Tottenham agree to Dominic Solanke as Daniel Levy ‘avoids paying £65m clause’

Tottenham are bidding to agree a deal for Dominic Solanke after AFC Bournemouth agreed to sell their star striker to Spurs for a club record fee, according to reports.

And it looks like Daniel Levy will have to pay Solanke’s £65m release clause to entrust Ange Postecoglou with his precedent signing in the final weeks of the summer move-in window.

Tottenham have not signed a senior striker since Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich last summer, with Son Heung-min at the centre of the 2023/24 season.

But the Lilywhites look to finally update the club icon with one of the Premier League’s most dangerous goalscorers and a deal could be struck for £60m according to BBC Sport.

According to The Athletic, Solanke has agreed a deal with the north Londoners and is said to be desperate to complete a move.

Negotiations between Spurs and Bournemouth are reportedly underway to finalise the transfer of the leader who enjoyed the crusade of his Premier League career last season, scoring 19 goals.

Solanke’s contract at the Vitality Stadium runs until 2029 and has a £65m release clause which some clubs can activate.

However, other reports have claimed that Spurs are racing to strike a compromise that indicates the striker is a good fit for Postecoglou’s playing taste. It turns out that they have in fact agreed on rates lower than this clause.

“The important thing is the type of striker we have. You know, we play in a safe way,” the Australian coach said on Tottenham’s pre-season trip to Japan.

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix package as part of an unbeatable new deal that saves £216 and includes 1400 Premier League matches, EFL and more.

With Ultra HD included at no extra cost, football enthusiasts can enjoy the 2024/25 season with transparent image quality.

“We are sure from a physical point of view, from a technical point of view, that he is a striker who fits this mould.

“It’s still the ballpark domain where we’re probably thinner when I speak from a team standpoint at the moment, so it’s obviously a precedent for us. “

Solanke could be the Spurs’ fourth signing of the summer. Midfield duo Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, from Leeds United and Djurgarden respectively, joined for a combined fee of £38. 5m.

South Korean winger Yang Min-hyuk, 18, will join K League 1 side Gangwon FC in January.

Solanke came to Chelsea’s academy before joining Liverpool in 2017.

He landed at Bournemouth two years later and the Anfield club included a 20% sell-on clause in his contract, so they can earn additional money from the move.

Solanke’s preference to move to Tottenham may be partly due to his absence from Gareth Southgate’s England squad at Euro 2024.

After missing out on Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Brentford’s Ivan Toney, the No. 9 Cherries will be targeting the 2026 World Cup.
