Tottenham are officially offering between £30m and £40m for a daring first summer signing

Tottenham will play hardball with Chelsea and open a bid for Conor Gallagher in the range of £30 million to £40m, and TEAMtalk has exclusively learned why it’s Spurs who are likely to have the final say.

Tottenham have made no secret of their admiration for Gallagher, who has a key figure under Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino this season.

The flexible 24-year-old midfielder has featured in every single Premier League game he has been available for this season. The only game he missed through suspension.

Gallagher was even Chelsea’s captain in Reece James’ various injury absences. Pochettino is incredibly reluctant to lose Gallagher, even if the final resolution is not up to him.

TEAMtalk has learned that if Gallagher doesn’t draft new terms in the coming months, he’ll be sold this summer.

Gallagher’s current contract expires at the end of next season and Chelsea need to risk squandering a highly saleable asset if the contractual impasse continues.

It looks like Gallagher will receive a hefty pay rise, up to £150,000 per week. Les Bleus are reluctant to respond to this request.

If no breakthrough is made, Gallagher will be traded, just as Mason Mount did last summer, when he had one year left on his contract.

Tottenham manager Postecoglou has named Gallagher as the best addition to his midfield. Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey is also in the crosshairs, Gallagher is the number one target and only a new midfielder is expected.

Now, according to a new update from Football Insider, Tottenham are already looking at their initial offer for Gallagher.

FI claims that an offer of between £30 million and £40 million will be submitted. That’s well below Chelsea’s £50m internal valuation that TEAMtalk was able to verify.

Spurs are said to be betting big on their bitter London rivals and are well aware that Chelsea will struggle to loan before June 30.

A sale before this date guarantees that profits will be returned to that season’s accounts. The sale of players also represents a natural benefit on the balance sheet and the removal of Gallagher would ease the concerns of Chelsea’s PSR.

Chelsea’s decision to take credit depends first and foremost on whether Gallagher presents a new deal. If it does, a potential Gallagher exit probably wouldn’t be a big deal.

If a new deal is not signed, Les Bleus will conscientiously accept any offer they get and Pochettino’s insistence on keeping Gallagher will be ignored.

Explaining Postecoglou’s infatuation with Gallagher, our moving expert, Fraser Gillan, explained the role Gallagher would take on in North London.

Gallagher would be deployed as the number six and would rival Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr in the more inner-midfield roles.

However, Gallagher’s versatility will also secure him more complex opportunities at James Maddison’s position if he fails.
