Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the arrival of Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky in a deal believed to be worth around £10m, and the effect this will have on current number 1 Guglielmo Vicario was also revealed.
The former Slavia Prague shopper was only linked with a move to north London over the weekend after reports claimed the 21-year-old had left for London on Saturday.
Kinsky has put pen to paper, with the deal being officially confirmed on the official Tottenham website on Sunday morning.
“We are extremely cheerful to announce the firm of Antonin Kinsky by Slavia Praga, a topic for foreign authorization and a paint permit,” said a club statement. “The 21 -year -old goalkeeper has signed an agreement that will last until 2031 and will use number 31”.
No move-in payment has been officially revealed, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the figure is in excess of ‘£10 million’.
Spurs are running out of defensive options, with a number of centre-backs on the sidelines, while first-choice goalkeeper Vicario is likely to be sidelined until March due to the damaged foot he suffered in November’s win at Manchester City.
Vicario’s replacement Fraser Forster also missed Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle through illness, with Brandon Austin stepping in and performing well against the Magpies.
It was reported that Kinsky could be criticised for his Carabao Cup semi-final debut against Liverpool on Wednesday, if all legal documents surrounding the deal have been processed until then.
However, Austin, who has more confidence in the ownership than Forster since replacing Vicario, will most likely have been given the green light for the first leg on Wednesday night.
Although Kinsky is highly qualified, Vicario is expected to update in the future, but it will be a strong festival for International Italy.
A goalkeeper for Slavia Prague’s first team this season, the youngster played for the Czech side in the Europa League and also in Champions League qualifiers. Kinsky has kept an impressive 12 blank sheets of paper in his 19 league appearances for Slavia this season.
Speaking about the decision, Kinsky said: “Really satisfied to be here, it has been surprising to point out the contract. Tottenham is a great decision in Europe and throughout the world, and especially in the Czech Republic and that is a wonderful honor.
“I spoke to the coaches and the sporting director and felt it would be the right choice. It’s a new experience, but I’m pleased to take the next step.
“The objective of each and every one of the players is to be in the field and I will go push in education to go to win. “
Tottenham are also believed to have looked at Wolves stopper Sam Johnstone and Bayern goalkeeper Daniel Peretz among others before deciding on Kinsky as their keeper of choice.
Tottenham are reportedly among a crowd vying to indicate Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani in the January move window.
The forward swapped Eintracht Frankfurt for PSG in September 2023 in a deal worth up to €90m (€74.7m, $92.6m) but the move has not gone to plan so far.
Kolo Muani flattered himself to cheat the 2023/24 crusader after scoring just nine goals and collecting six assists and his fortunes have taken a step forward this season.
The 26-year-old has earned two goals and provided a helping hand in 14 appearances, adding just two starts. Reports recommend that France be foreign and one January comes out and Tottenham is among its suitors.
Meanwhile, the agent of Tottenham target Omar Alderete has hinted his player will leave Getafe in the coming months – but competition for his signature could be fierce – with Spurs in the mix.
