Tottenham in talks to beat Chelsea and sign the former Blues player for £65,000,000

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks to sign Bournemouth and England striker Dominic Solanke from Chelsea and Liverpool.

Chelsea are also keen to re-sign their former academy star, who spent thirteen years with the Blues but only made one senior appearance.

After receiving great suggestions at Stamford Bridge, Solanke moved to Anfield but failed to make an impact, joining Bournemouth in January 2019 for £19m.

But again, the forward was flattered to deceive, scoring 3 goals in the next 18 months as the Cherries were relegated, but 44 goals in the next two Championship campaigns restored his reputation.

Back on the more sensible flight, he exploded into form under Andoni Iraola last season, scoring 19 goals, an overall figure bettered only by Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak.

His performances led England to seek a place at Euro 2024, but instead they decided on Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney.

Now, Solanke is Tottenham’s main target and Ange Postecoglou has decided to sign a new number 9 this summer.

The Telegraph reports that Spurs have had talks about a transfer and are expected to make an offer under the £65m release clause for the 26-year-old, which has so far deterred Chelsea from making an offer.

The north London club could try to offer Bournemouth “favorable payment terms” but it is believed there is still a long way to go before a deal can be agreed.

Solanke is said to be keen on the more sensible club after his spells at Chelsea and Liverpool didn’t work out and his arrival could also lead to Spurs promoting long-suffering striker Richarlison, who has an interest in the Saudi Pro League.

Bournemouth will most likely be reluctant to decrease the value of their star player, as Solanke is also reported to have a sell clause in his contract that will give Liverpool 20 per cent of the profit made on a sale.

If his release clause were triggered, the Reds would earn £9. 2m from the player who only played 27 appearances and scored just one goal under Jurgen Klopp.
