Tottenham have officially announced the signing of Burnley star Wilson Odobert after the 19-year-old underwent a medical with the north Londoners on Thursday.
He is set to be Spurs’ fifth signing of the season following Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Dominic Solanke and Min-hyeok Yang in what could prove to be a wonder deal.
This move comes as a big surprise: Tottenham’s interest in the player was only reported 30 minutes before the announcement, through journalist Sacho Tavolieri.
“We are very pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement for the permanent signing of Wilson Odobert from Burnley, subject to formalities,” Tottenham published on its official website.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham will pay £25m plus £5m in add-ons for Odobert and that Burnley will also receive 10% of any long-term sales. It will bear the number. Shirt 29 for Spurs.
Odobert can play as an attacking midfielder or winger and had impressive performances in the Premier League last season, despite Burnley’s relegation.
The teenager scored in Lancashire’s Championship opener against Luton Town on Monday night, but is now ready to complete the wonderful move to Tottenham.

Odobert will compete with Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison this season and has prospects of being the most sensible player.
However, Tottenham’s business may not prevent that, as Postecoglou would be keen to sign a new centre-back.
Ecuadorian media outlet El Comercio claims that Tottenham will join the race for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.
The 22-year-old played a key role in Leverkusen’s title-winning campaign in 2023/24. Last season he played 43 games for the German champion and his team had 20 blank sheets.
Bayern Munich and Liverpool have also shown interest in Hincapie, they will have to “fight” to beat Spurs when he is signed.
Hincapie’s agreement with Leverkusen is valid until 2027. The report states that Xabi Alonso has held talks with the player and “has asked him to stay”.
Hincapie is reportedly valued at around £65m and it remains to be noted that Spurs are willing to shell out that amount.
Postecoglou already has quality like Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin in central defense.
However, reports recommend that Romero could leave the North Londoners after this season, so they may bring in Hincapie to upgrade him long-term.
We will have to see how this story develops in the coming days and also if Odobert is in the Tottenham squad for their match against Leicester on Monday.
