TOTTENHAM have rejected Bayern Munich’s “final” offer for Harry Kane, leaving a big doubt about the summer’s decision.
The German giants met Spurs boss Daniel Levy in London last week, but his most recent offer is £86m, adding an extra £17m, still well below Tottenham’s valuation.
There is now uncertainty about whether negotiations between the two clubs will continue.
Bayern bosses held an internal recruitment meeting on Monday following the news from London and are doubting whether or not they will return with a higher offer.
The Bundesliga champions looked to work out any deal until Sunday and warned Spurs that the latest offer could be their last.
Kane, who is in the final year of his contract and has shown no signs of signing a new contract, wants his future to be somehow when Tottenham face Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday.
If no other offer comes in, Spurs threaten to waste the England captain for nothing next summer.
The 30-year-old will be able to sign a pre-contract with a foreigner from January.
Kane scored four goals as Spurs beat Shakhtar Donetsk in a pre-season friendly at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
Tottenham’s final pre-season match will take place on Tuesday night against Barcelona in Spain.
At the weekend, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou denounced Bayern Munich’s public persecution of Kane: he never talks to the media about players from other clubs.
The 57-year-old Australian has faced questions about Kane’s long-term since joining Spurs in June.
Postecoglou said he did not bother through Bayern’s public court, but added: “What is certain at the moment is that Kane is a player under contract from our football club.
“I wouldn’t talk about players who have contracts at other football clubs, but I’m not at Bayern so they can pass as they want. “
