Tottenham have finalised a deal for Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky as a stand-in for the injured Guglielmo Vicario, subject to international clearance and a work permit
The 21-year-old, who has already earned admiration in many European countries despite joining the Slavia Prague squad this season, is expected to command £12. 5m for the signings.
The agreement concluded before Tottenham’s house in the Newcastle United, where the third goalkeeper Brandon Austin made his festival for Spurs at the age of 25.
The absence of No. 1 Vicario, who broke his ankle in the 4-0 win over Manchester City, is seen as one of the main reasons for Spurs’ recent decline, and less so because of the way Ange Postecoglou in particular uses his goalkeepers.
Tottenham are grateful for the way Fraser Forster has stepped up his efforts, however, the club has been for a choice since Vicario had to undergo ankle surgery in November after failing to indicate a new number 2 in the summer.
Forster was also guilty of high profile errors in the victory over Manchester United in the previous round of the Carabao Cup after looking uncomfortable with the ball at his feet.
Kinsky is represented through Sport Invest, with whom Petr Cech has worked, and is in the industry as an expert in finding the best Czech goalkeepers.
Kinsky is 21 years old and is the son of Antonin Kinsky, number 2 of the CECH in the country’s race in the semi-finals of the 2004 European Championship.
A choice option for Spurs’ Daniel Peretz Bayern Munich, however, any prospective move was blocked due to Manuel Neuer’s rib injury. Bundesliga leaders are now assessing the number one’s progress.
