Tottenham star Destiny Udogie out of season after undergoing surgery

NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Tottenham star Destiny Udogie will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery for an unspecified injury.

It’s a blow for Spurs, who are looking to finish in the top four and secure qualifiers for the Premier League Champions League, with several important games on the horizon.

Udogie has been a key player for Ange Postecoglou with performances in his first season at the club.

But the 21-year-old will no longer play any role in this campaign, announcing the bad news on Saturday night on Instagram along with several photographs of himself after the operation.

“The planes of the center belong to man, but those of the tongue come from the Lord,” the Italian posted.

“An injury ended my season prematurely. That doesn’t take away from my gratitude to everyone who has supported me this year.

It is unclear what the injury is or exactly how long he will be sidelined, as his participation in Euro 2024 with Italy is now uncertain.

Ben Davies will most likely upgrade to left-back now, starting with next Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal, followed by their next biggest rivals Chelsea.

Tottenham will face contenders Liverpool and Manchester City next month.

Udogie joins Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon and Fraser Forster, who will be out for the rest of the season, while Richarlison is also in the therapy room but may return in time to face the Gunners.

As things stand, Spurs are just three points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with a game in hand, but their lower goal difference and tricky run mean qualification for the Champions League will be a very difficult task.
