Tottenham have finalised the signing of German Timo Werner on loan.
The former Chelsea hitman has joined the North Londoners from German giants RB Leipzig until the end of the season.
But Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has the option of getting his permanently if he wants.
After teasing his arrival on social media, Spurs announced the signing of the 27-year-old, who will wear the number 16 shirt, on their official website.
An excerpt from the club reads: “We are very pleased to announce the signing of Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig, subject to foreign clearance.
“The Germany international will join the Club on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.
“He’ll be wearing the jersey with the number on it. “
SunSport understands that Spurs have the possibility of buying Werner this summer for between £13 million and £17 million.
Werner hopes his form at Chelsea won’t affect him in London.
The striker struggled to stay consistent during his time at Stamford Bridge following a £47. 6m move from Leipzig in the summer of 2020.
The striker has scored 23 goals and provided 21 assists in 89 appearances for the West Londoners, although he has wasted chances.
Werner has joined Spurs with a view to securing a place in the German national team for Euro 2024.
Injury and slipping down the pecking order has seen the striker only play 204 minutes this season.
And Leipzig sporting director Mario Gomez believes the move will bring advantages for both sides.
The former Bayern Munich hitman said: “Everyone wins.
“Germany takes advantage of this. We gain advantages because we advance a player.
“He’ll play regularly, that’s what Tottenham told us. “
Werner is likely to make his Tottenham debut on Sunday night when Postecoglou takes his troops to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
