Tottenham’s transparent package for Juventus striker as £20m star move takes shape for January

Tottenham are now said to be the “clear favourites” to sign Juventus striker Samuel Iling-Junior as they are willing to pay the £20m that others cannot.

Iling-Junior is following in the footsteps of a few recent English talents by making a name for himself away from his homeland. Indeed, the attacker left Chelsea for Juventus before ever playing a senior game for the Blues, and is thriving in Italy.

After some impressive returns to the club’s youth teams, the 20-year-old made it to the first team last season.

Iling-Junior has scored one goal and assisted once in 12 Serie A games, and has made a few appearances off the bench this season, assisting once in five games.

His impressive taste suggests he could be in contention for a starting job, rather than simply taking advantage of opportunities off the bench.

That may not be the case at Juventus, with a number of teams in England identifying him as a useful option for the future.

While Tottenham are known to be one of his more sensible suitors, having tried to sign him this summer, TEAMtalk recently revealed that Fulham, Aston Villa and Everton are all interested in him.

Sources later told TEAMtalk that Brighton and Newcastle are also on the market for the 20-year-old and, as yet to be contacted, Spurs are said to be in the lead.

Now, Football Inaspectr has released an update stating that the North London aspect is leading the pack.

In fact, the report claims that Tottenham are “clear favourites” to get Iling-Junior in January, when Juventus do so, given that his contract expires in 2025.

The main reason that they’re ahead of the likes of Newcastle is their willingness to spend.

In fact, Football Insider suggests that Spurs are “happy to match” the £20m tag that Juventus have placed on the youngster.

Newcastle are said to be “unlikely” to accommodate that offer given they are capped in January due to Financial Fair Play regulations. It is not yet known whether the party will make an offer.

With Juventus willing to let Iling-Junior leave in January, there is a chance he could play for Tottenham until the end of the window.

They will make “an offer” “at the beginning” of January.

With Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon and James Maddison among the attacking sparks lately sidelined due to injury, Iling-Junior may be added straight into the mix.

In the midst of a dip in the table (Tottenham have lost 4 of their last five league games), the striker can raise the bar and lead Spurs back to the top.
