West Ham youngster Callum Marshall has just been announced as the Premier League 2’s player of the month for the second time this season and where he ends up by the end of the month will be an interesting one to monitor, writes Malik Ouzia.

He has been in ridiculously smart form for the Under-21s all season and has already made his senior international debut for Northern Ireland. West Ham’s plan was to loan him out to play first-team football in the second part of the season.

However, that is on hold, in the midst of his ongoing injury crisis and I expect him to be concerned to some extent in Bristol City in next week’s FA Cup.

It is possible that he will still be on loan towards the end of the month, if Jarrod Bowen returns as temporarily as the club hopes and if he manages to sign another striker. However, I wonder if one or two decent appearances between now and then could prompt a change of plans.

Arsenal and Nantes are close to reaching an agreement to finalise Marquinhos’ loan.

That’s according to L’Equipe, with it reported that the winger has failed to impress in France and could be sent back to north London.

Marquinhos has played only 150 minutes of football this season, making one start, with his time at Nantes potentially coming to a premature end.

Ian Maatsen has ended his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund after signing a new contract with Chelsea.

The Blues have given the homegrown winger a two-year extension, extending his contract until the summer of 2026.

A clause is included in the renewal as Chelsea look to increase Maatsen’s price with his upcoming move to Germany.

“Borussia Dortmund made a lot of effort to sign me,” Maatsen said. “I’ve been following BVB and their fans for a long time and even went to the Champions League match in Manchester in the autumn of 2022 to see the team live on the pitch.

“I am very pleased that the loan has already been repaid. I promise I will give it my all to help the team succeed and get to the Yellow Wall. “

Borussia Dortmund director Sebastien Kehl has lifted the lid on the club’s successful attempts to bring Jadon Sancho back to Germany on loan.

He said, “It wasn’t easy to bring Sancho back, it took several days!”

You can see the fireplace in his eyes. Jadon is pleased to be able to play football again. We will do our best to get it back to its highest point as temporarily as possible.

He added: “We don’t have an option to buy Sancho. Stay here beyond this season? Nothing can ever be ruled out. . . But we know what kind of market price it can generate. “

“I’m not naive – but we’ll let things come to us.”

Fulham will renew their contract with Tosin Adarabioyo, writes Dom Smith.

The centre-back is out of contract this summer and AC Milan are exploring the possibility of signing him to a pre-contract, with Serie A rivals Napoli also interested.

Standard Sport understands Fulham have only had one new contract offer rejected by Adarabioyo, contrary to reports suggesting there have been three, but the club will table a fresh offer with improved personal terms imminently.

It remains to be seen if the 26-year-old will sign the deal; His future is still uncertain as he enters the final six months of his current contract.

There are some reports this morning suggesting that West Ham are keeping an eye on Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, but it looks like a summer move is most likely to happen at this stage.

Gimenez, who is a Mexican international teammate of Hammers midfielder Edson Alvarez, has been in prolific form for the Dutch side this term, having scored 20 times in 22 games across all competitions.

Feyenoord boss Arne Slot did not rule out a January sale when asked about the 22-year-old’s future last month, but indicated that it would take a substantial offer to convince the club to sell before the summer.

West Ham are in the market for attacking reinforcements following injuries to Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio, but are on a tight budget unless fringe players are sold and would prefer to wait until the summer to make significant investment – at centre-forward in particular.

David Moyes’ priority remains signing wide players, which would give him more freedom to use Paqueta and Bowen centrally, and Ajax’s Steven Bergwijn and Sunderland’s Jack Clarke remain key targets.

It’s very difficult for West Ham, as Malik Ouzia reports that Charlton won the race to sign midfielder Conor Coventry as they look to revive their long-suffering season.

The Addicks have beaten the festival of several League One rivals, Sheffield Wednesday, to sign the Hammers academy graduate for an undisclosed fee.

Coventry were part of West Ham more than five years ago but have struggled to make a breakthrough, spending most of their time since then on loan and betting just ten times for the first team.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a promising era in the league with Rotherham in the second half of last season but has not played under David Moyes since returning to east London and is expected to end his contract this summer.

Read more about Jack Clake as Sunderland head coach Michael Beale has shown that any technique for the winger who will be in the top squad in January would be unwelcome.

“When you are doing what he is doing every week at the top end of the Championship there’s going to be speculation,” said Beale when asked of the interest.

West Ham, Crystal Palace and Brentford are all considering a January deal for Sunderland winger Jack Clarke.

The 23-year-old, a former Tottenham player, attracted a lot of interest in the Premier League last summer and will do so again this month.

Standard Sport understands that West Ham, Palace and Brentford are 3 of at least five Premier League clubs bidding for the York-born winger.

Sunderland are understandably keen to keep hold of Clarke for the second half of the season, but a bid north of around £20million could prompt serious consideration.

Chelsea are set to end their interest in Paulo Dybala after the Roma striker was injured.

FootballTransfers claims the Blues were in talks over a value relief for the player, who has a clause worth just over £10m active in the opening weeks of the January transfer window.

Newcastle frontman Darren Eales has warned enthusiasts that a star player could be sold due to the Premier League’s sustainability regulations (PSR) as the team reported a loss of £73. 4m in their latest monetary results.

Newcastle, who in October 2021 were acquired by a group led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, also reported an increase in revenues to 250.3 million pounds from 180 million pounds for the year ending June 30, 2023.

Asked if the more sensible players – Alexander Isak, Sven Botman or Bruno Guimaraes – could be sold, Eales told reporters: “For any player, at any time, it depends on the circumstances.

“It’s hard to speculate, but if we’re presented with £1 billion for one of those players, then no one will be able to deny that it makes sense.

“Any resolution we make will be in the context of medium and long-term benefits for the club. If we want to get where we want to go, it’s rarely mandatory to sign our players.

“It’s contradictory and part of the inherent formula of the PSR that it’s an incentive to attract their players if they need to reinvest, because of the nature of the caps. “

Arsenal and Manchester United are keeping an eye on Ajax striker Brian Brobbey ahead of a possible move in January.

According to the Mirror, Erik ten Hag is very happy to have worked – and I will never guess – with the Ajax striker.

However, United’s existing money problems mean a permanent deal will be reached this month, which could give Arsenal the edge if they consolidate their own interest, as Manchester United begin to make plans for their summer move window.

The 21-year-old is 12 goals in 24 games for Ajax this season.

Chelsea are long-time Brighton fans Evan Ferguson, writes Nizaar Kinsella.

Brighton will resist any move for the 19-year-old forward, who has just signed a contract until 2029 and could cost more than £100million.

The Seagulls have no pressure to sell and don’t need to lose a gem to Chelsea, who they controlled to convince to pay £115m for Moises Caicedo last summer.

Brighton’s reluctance to lose their star to Chelsea is perceived as the main obstacle to any potential long-term deal for Ferguson.

The Republic of Ireland attracted interest from Manchester United and Tottenham last summer, who were linked with a resolution to update Harry Kane.

By signing Yunus Emre Konak, Brentford beat several of Europe’s biggest clubs and signed a player who many in Turkey consider to be his country’s brightest young player.

Konak’s deal with Brentford ended on Wednesday, his 18th birthday, after immediate preparation.

A league winner with Sivasspor’s U-17s, he played for Turkey’s U-18s in September. In October, with the U-21s.

It’s also fitting that the defensive midfielder hails from Batman’s hometown, given the number of times he has come to Sivasspor’s rescue since making his first-team debut in August.

Only six players in the entire Turkish Super Lig have made more interceptions than Konak this season, and only eight have won more tackles.

Eric Dier has completed his move to Bayern Munich, bringing an end almost a decade as a Tottenham player.

The defender arrived in Germany to undergo a medical on Thursday and is now officially a Bayern player, having signed on loan for the rest of the season. Bayern have the option to make it a permanent move in the summer.

Tottenham have confirmed the squad number for new signing Radu Dragusin.

After a saga of mini-transfers to start the January window, the Romanian defender has finally completed his high-profile transfer to Spurs from Serie A side Genoa.

Tottenham reportedly paid £21. 5 million upfront for Dragusin, with an additional £4 million in addition, after accepting an overdue challenge from Bayern Munich, who are now signing defender Eric Dier, and interest from their Napoli rivals.

He has signed a contract until the summer of 2029 and could go straight into Ange Postecoglou’s matchday squad for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Spurs have shown off Dragusin’s No. 6 shirt, which has been vacant since compatriot Davinson Sanchez left after six years at Turkish giants Galatasaray on a permanent contract last summer.

The number was also worn by Dragusin’s compatriot Vlad Chiriches in north London between 2013-15, while the likes of Nabil Bentaleb, Tom Huddlestone and Teemu Tainio have also donned that jersey in recent years.=

The announcement ends a saga to open the January transfer window after the two clubs sparred over fees, amid interest from Napoli and AC Milan.
