Villa sold the striker to the Blades in the summer of 2023, but as part of the deal, Sheffield United’s demotion to the Championship would see Archer return to Villa Park.
Therefore, the Blades paid a huge sum for a one-year loan.
It’s unclear what will happen to Archer now that he’s returned, but with John Duran’s future uncertain, it’s imaginable that Archer will stay and compete with Ollie Watkins.
