Twitter pours salt into patriot’s wound after release of Mohamed Sanu

Mohamed Sanu’s delight in New England didn’t work, to say the least.

It was reported Wednesday that the Patriots planned to release Sanu with the scheduled start of their season in less than two weeks. The veteran’s tenure at Foxboro lasted only eight games, in which he put in only 26 passes for 207 yards with a touchdown.

Despite a brief sting with the Patriots, there is a chance that Sanu will still live in infamy in New England. The acquisition of the 31-year-old team in 2019 may be one of the worst exchanges of the Bill Belichick era, which saw the Patriots send a 2020 second-round selection to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a loose exchange.

When news of Sanu’s statement was announced, many others on Twitter reflected on the seriousness of the deal.

Sanu’s release, of course, makes the already receiving body of the Patriots even more nervous. However, New England will raise a $6.5 million limit by cutting ties with the ninth-grade professional.
