Two Arsenal stars miss pre-season trip to the United States because they have a knee problem

Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu will not travel for the Gunners’ pre-season trip to the United States and will remain in the capital to nurse a knee injury.

Matches for Bournemouth, Manchester United and Liverpool await in the United States as Mikel Arteta prepares his team for the new Premier League crusade next month.

Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, William Saliba and Davis Raya will miss the excursion after reaching the Euro 2024 finals with their respective nations.

Tomiyasu also stayed in London as he continues to receive treatment for a knee problem, with Kieran Tierney recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered in Scotland’s Euro 2024 clash against Switzerland.

Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus are part of the 26-man squad bound for the United States along with Jurrien Timber, who missed almost the entire 2023-24 crusade due to injury, who is also in the squad.

Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson also achieved success despite a long dubious career at Arsenal.

Nketiah is wanted by Marseille, who announced the arrival of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United on Thursday. The Ligue 1 giants, now controlled by Roberto de Zerbi, have named Nketiah as their next target, with the striker believed to be open to a move.

Meanwhile, Fulham saw their initial offer of up to £30m for Smith Rowe rejected this week. Arteta used the attacking midfielder sparingly last season, and Crystal Palace also competed for his signature.

Meanwhile, Reiss Nelson is wanted via West Ham United.

Arsenal begin their tour in Los Angeles by facing Bournemouth on July 24 before facing Manchester United on July 27.

Their US tour will end in Liverpool in Philadelphia on July 31.

The Gunners face Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon in the final pre-season matches at the Emirates before beginning their Premier League campaign against Wolves on August 17.
