Two new trips; a flashback to 2007: Liverpool, their warring matches in the organization of the Europa League | football

Liverpool have met the three they will face at the Europa League organisational level, and the draw will take place on Friday at lunchtime.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are hoping their continental odyssey will lead them to lift the trophy in Dublin next May, allowing them to win the only festival the German eluded in his reign at Anfield.

The Reds are made up of Austria’s LASK, Belgium’s Union Saint-Gilloise and Coupe de France winners Toulouse (LFC’s official website) in Group E.

Of the three that Liverpool will face in the organization phase, two constitute the Reds’ first meeting in Europe.

LASK has participated in continental competitions in recent years, reaching the knockout stages of this tournament in 2019/20 before succumbing to Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Union Saint-Gilloise may have entered yesterday’s Champions League draw without problems, having won last season’s most sensible flight just minutes before Royal Antwerp took the name impressively.

Only a few years ago they ascended to the most sensible position, but in 2022 they won the title and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League last season.

Toulouse, the lowest-ranked team in Liverpool’s group, have already faced the Reds, and both groups met in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League in 2007/08.

Rafael Benitez’s side won the first leg 1-0 thanks to a goal from Andriy Voronin before securing a 4-0 win at Anfield to secure their place in the organisation phase.

The Violets finished 13th in Ligue 1 last season, but owe their position in Europe this season to their triumph in the Coupe de France, beating Nantes 5-1 in the final.

Overall, this is an organization that is likely to satisfy Liverpool fans, as Austria is the furthest country away and some evil warring parties are avoided.

There may be some tough tests in the Reds’ team, but at their best they will have enough to climb up the table and go straight to the knockout stages.

The organisational matches will take place on 21 September, 5 October, 26 October, 9 November, 30 November and 14 December, with the full schedule to be announced no later than Saturday morning.
