LISBON – American midfielder Tyler Adams scored Thursday with a deflected shot in the 88th minute to take RB Leipzig, founded in 2009, to the champions of the Champions League for the first time.

Adams’ goal, in a shot from the most sensible in the area that diverted Atletico defender Stefan Savic and former goalkeeper Jan Oblak, gave RB Leipzig a 2–1 victory.
