Michael Brown believes Jose Mourinho will have been disappointed to point to a central defender shown as Tottenham targeted Swansea City star Joe Rodon.
Speaking exclusively to Russell Edge, assistant editor of Football Insider, former Spurs midfielder warned that the Lilywhites would have sought an experienced defender through the door before Monday’s foreign move deadline.
As revealed through Football Insider, the Spurs are expected to publish a thirteen million pound offer for the 22-year-old before the national window closes on Friday.
This detailed how Tottenham’s efforts to point to Inter Milan’s Skriniar and Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger failed.
Brown introduced Rodon as a ‘typical Spurs signature’, but warned that mourinho would have sought more delight through the door.
Brown told Football Insider: “I think defensively they looked to get in there, but in attack I think it’s very exciting with all the signings coming up.
“A central defender would have been a kind of disappointment. I think anyone can be modeled through José Mourinho, he has that special ability that we have seen. He says it is the special maxim, as we know.
“He’s an experienced coach, someone he’d like to play for, and he’s the typical Spurs signing, isn’t he?”
Rodon broke into Swansea’s senior team in South Wales in 2018 and made appearances for the club.
He has been there for the Swans this season, and also won his fourth international match with Wales in a 3-0 loss to England.
In news, Tottenham is in complex talks to agree on the left foot.
