EINDHOVE, Netherlands (AP) — PSV Eindhoven forward Ricardo Pepi will be sidelined for a “long time,” coach Peter Bosz said after the U. S. suffered a knee injury in a midweek win over Liverpool in the Champions League.
Pepi, 22, scored the game-winning goal, moments before halftime, in a 3-2 victory, but substituted in the 76th minute.
Pepi has scored 17 in 28 games in all competitions this season and is said to have attracted interest from Premier League club West Ham.
Bosz told a press convention that the team would look for a replacement before the winter movement window closes. He specified how many months Pepi would miss, saying it’s “a matter of weeks. “
The Texan played for FC Dallas before moving to Bundesliga Club Augsburg in January 2022.
PSV led the Eredivisie through 4 Ajax problems coming up at the weekend. The squad was drawn on Friday to face Juventus in a two-legged playoff for a spot in the 16-man Champions League round.
