The UEFA Champions League will conclude the 2019–20 season with 11 matches in 17 days, adding seven in Lisbon, Portugal, while a new champion will be crowned. All Champions League matches, the rest of the time, start at 3 p.m. ET and can be streamed on CBS All Access. Coverage begins at 8 a.m. ET on CBS Sports HQ. The UEFA Europa League also faces a frantic finale with 16 matches in 17 days, adding 10 in Germany, with the winner securing a spot in the Champions League next season.
Speaking of which, with the league season almost on the books (or abandoned) in some European nations, let’s take a look at those that have secured a position at the organization level of the 2020-21 Champions League:
The remaining six spots will come in the playoffs. So far, Ajax and Red Bull Salzburg are caught in the knockout round, which serves almost as a play for the two-set organizing stage. In August, more playoff qualifying rounds will begin with smaller league organizations.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 1. That’s when the draw will take place in Athens, Greece, and we’ll see 32 clubs divided into 8 teams of four.
The action at the organization level will begin on Tuesday, October 20 and Wednesday, October 21. Each team will have 3 parties at war at the organization level and six games in total (one at home, one away). The organization level ends on Tuesday, December 8 and Wednesday, December 9.
