Jairzinho Rozenstruik made his professional MMA debut in 2012. He fought twice that year and won first-round knockout victories in those contests. Rozenstruik spent the next five years focusing on kickboxing. When he returned to MMA in 2017, he had three knockout victories and one win by resolution before joining UFC in 2019. Rozenstruik faced Junior Albini in his UFC debut.
Albini began his UFC career in 2016. He won by knockout against Timothy Johnson on his debut. When he faced Rozenstruik, Albini had just lost to Andrei Arlovski and Aleksei Oleinik.
The clash between Albini and Rozenstruik took place in Brazil, the country of Albini. The pair had 17 victories by arrest at the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 144.
The odds favored the local wrestler. Albini is a favorite of -130 while Rozenstruik is a 110 outsider.
Albini took the fight to the canvas early and worked as a half guard. Albini let go and took a sideways after a brief struggle, then sought a kimura submission. With 3 minutes to play in the first stanza, Rozenstruik surrendered, but thirty seconds later Albini resumed the fight on the canvas. Soon after, the two re-stood, where they spent the rest of the entrance.
The first forty-five moments of the turn of the moment were slow. The two collided from a distance, but when Albini approached for a punch, Rozenstruik landed a big blow that straightened his opponent. From there, Rozenstruik unleashed punches that left Albini on the canvas and ended the contest.
Rozenstruik won his next three fights by knockout to his 10-0 record. He suffered the first defeat of his career in May when former challenger Francis Ngannou eliminated him in 20 seconds.
Tonight, Rozenstruik returns to the Octagon to face former UFC champion Junior dos Santos, who is in the first series of two consecutive defeats of his career.
