MOSCOW: A Ukrainian attack on a market in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, left another 13 people dead and 10 others wounded, the head of the Russian-controlled region said.
The Moscow-installed head of the Donetsk region, Denis Pushilin, said on Telegram that “at least 13 people were killed and 10 injured following a terrible bombing on a market”.
In a first assessment, the mayor of Donetsk, Alexei Kulemzin, had reported 8 dead in the shelling in the northeast of the city.
The Ukrainian city fell under the control of pro-Moscow separatists in 2014 and is a target of Kiev’s forces.
On the afternoon of Jan. 1, another four people were killed and thirteen wounded, including journalists, in actions in Donetsk, the Russian-controlled government said.
