Ukrainian drones destroy Russian ammunition depot in Donetsk Oblast, SBU source claims

Drones from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) effectively targeted a Russian ammunition depot near the occupied village of Markin in Donetsk Oblast “A few days ago,” an SBU source told the independent Kiev on the 16th. December.

“There were thousands of rounds of ammunition for the armored corps of worker carriers, tanks, anti-tank guided missiles, mines, grenades and millions of rounds of caliber,” the source said.

A nearby fuel and lubricant depot was also destroyed as explosions could be heard in the area at night, the source added.

The Kyiv Independent can determine those claims independently.

Ukraine is increasingly able to reach ammunition and weapons depots in the rear to block Kremlin logistics, hampering Russian operations on the line.

Some of Ukraine’s domestically produced drones have become capable of traveling 1,500 kilometers (over 900 miles), reaching depots in the rear that were thought to be at a safe distance from the front line.

Some of this year’s examples come with moves opposing the Russian cities of Tikhoretsk and Toropets with drones, efforts to film more than 30,000 tons of munitions, allegedly adding ballistic missiles.

Ukraine has also been targeting oil refineries to prevent Moscow from adequately rotating its troops, resupply, and fortify its positions.
