United Women Announces Winter Training Camp

As home to United’s official partner, Visit Malta, and one of our biggest fan clubs, the Mediterranean island will certainly offer another wonderful welcome to our women’s first team and full coaching staff.

The Reds enjoyed a successful trip there last January and defeated local side Birkirkara. This time, our friendly opposition will be provided by Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, two days after we arrive.

The adjustment is scheduled for Friday, January 5, 2024, and will begin at 6:00 p. m. for the first time at the Tony Bezzina Stadium in Paola, with a capacity of 3,038 people.

United Women Head Coach Marc Skinner said: “We are very pleased to be returning to the glorious island of Malta in January.

“After such a warm welcome last year, we cannot wait to play in front of our great Maltese fans, against a top side in the form of PSV.

“My players and staff are looking forward to spending a few days racing the pitch and enjoying Malta’s hospitality off it. “

The Maltese club founded at the Tony Bezzina Stadium, Hibernians, were our first opponents in the excellent run of victories in the 1967/68 European Cup. In the second leg, they drew 0-0 with Sir Matt Busby’s side, after the Reds’ 4-0 win at Old Trafford in their first crossover match.

Coincidentally, the stadium opened on November 9, 1986, three days after Sir Alex Ferguson began his illustrious 26-year reign as United manager.

Nikita is nominated for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for November – vote for her.
