Ajax suffered one of the biggest upsets in their history when they lost 3-2 to USV Hercules in the Dutch Cup.

Tim Pieters scored twice to put Hercules 2-0 up against Ajax, who have won the competition a record 20 times.

Brian Brobbey and Chuba Akpom scored in the final seven minutes to tie the game for the visitors.

But Mats Grotenbreg scored 3 minutes into stoppage time to secure a remarkable victory for Hercules.

Ajax coach John van ‘t Schip missed the game because he is in Australia to attend his son’s wedding.

It is the first time that Ajax, fifth in the Eredivisie (leader on 23 points, PSV Eindhoven), has lost to an amateur club in the Dutch Cup.
