Rafael van der Vaart has said Donny van de Beek deserved a pass to Manchester United while praising Ajax star before his move to Old Trafford.
United are final in the signing of Ajax midfielder Van de Beek after reaching a pay deal with the Eredivisie giants, who left the Dutchman out of Saturday’s friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Van de Beek had also been associated with the duo of LaLiga Barcelona and Real Madrid, but the 23-year-old Dutchman looks foreign in the Premier League in a deal that could succeed at 40. 8 million pounds (45 million euros).
Former Ajax and Dutch star Van der Vaart, who played for Tottenham in the Premier League, praised Van de Beek.
“Donny deserves this move very much,” Van der Vaart told NOS. “He played very well for Ajax.
“And Manchester United want that kind of player on their team. This movement is also fantastic for us [the Dutch].
“We’ll all go with him now. This resolution is so deserved. “
The van de Beek Academy product spent five seasons in the Ajax first team, making almost two hundred appearances in all competitions for the Amsterdam venue.
Van de Beek, one of Ajax’s star players when he embarked on a memorable race to the semi-finals of the 2018-19 Champions League.
He has scored 8 goals in the Eredivisie and provided five assists in the 2019–20 20 season affected by the coronavirus, as well as managing 10 goals in all competitions.
