Donny van de Beek is on the hunt for his “big break” for dutch star Manchester United after joining the club from Ajax.
The 23-year-old arrived at Old Trafford before this month on an initial five-year contract that could be worth $39. 1 million.
He will be the thirteenth Dutch player to be part of United, a list that includes greats such as Jaap Stam, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Edwin van der Sar.
And Van de Beek is in a position to write his own call in United folklore after developing watching some of his compatriots win primary honors for the club.
“I saw United a lot [when I was younger],” he told Inside United magazine. “A lot of Dutch players have played here and it’s great to see if you’re a kid and you see the Dutch players there.
“Daley [Blind], Edwin, Robin van Persie . . . They see them. They have won many titles and United have played wonderful football, which was wonderful to watch. “
Van de Beek is ahead of the game at Old Trafford for the first time on Saturday when United receive Crystal Palace in their first Premier League match.
However, the Ajax Academy product admits that it will be the same to play in the iconic stadium without any supporters toasting the coronavirus pandemic.
“Old Trafford is a stadium,” he said. The most productive thing will be when the enthusiasts are also there and I can’t wait to play for the first time in front of them.
“I hope to see you soon in the stadium for our team, they will give us a lot of strength when we can have them with us.
“Everyone helped me a lot and they looked for me to make me feel at home and it’s smart for me and it gave me the confidence to play.
“It’s a family circle club, I can feel it from the first seconds I’m here. “
Van de Beek played a decisive role in last weekend’s friendly defeat to Aston Villa and is expected to enter directly into a young United XI opposed to the Palace later this week.
“There are a lot of young players in the group around my age, and I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for me on the team,” he said. “I look forward to betting many games with them.
“It’s smart to play with those kind of players, you can be informed of everyone. Each has its own qualities and you have to take the themes into your own hands.
“I am pleased to be able to play with them. That’s what I need and hopefully in combination we can create a brilliant long-term career for the club. “
