Donny van de Beek has chosen to wear the number 34 jersey at Manchester United, in tribute to him and his former Ajax teammate Abdelhak Nouri.
Van de Beek on Wednesday made a move by the Dutch giants as part of an agreement that could charge United 39. 1 million pounds (44 million euros).
Shortly after his move was confirmed, the Red Devils announced the selection of Van de Beek’s shirt number, while the 23-year-old made an elegant gesture.
Nouri, with whom Van de Beek went to Ajax’s academy, had used 34 in his time with the national team before a tragedy interrupted his fledgling career in 2017.
At 20, Nouri suffered a preseason attack and suffered a center attack that left him with permanent brain damage and a coma, from which he did not wake up until March after just two years and nine months.

Dean Henderson had been the goalkeeper, United showed that the goalkeeper had let Van de Beek take him away.
“This is something special to me because my intelligent friend Abdelhak Nouri . . . you know the story,” he told man United’s official website.
“He had a center attack and he’s a smart friend of mine, and I’m very close to his family circle and his brother is one of my most productive friends. I communicate a lot with them.
“So I must wear your old number on my shirt. I need to have good memories with this problem. “
Van de Beek gave the impression that he was destined to sign for Real Madrid this year, but the media claims that Los Blancos decided to withdraw from an agreement with Ajax after the coronavirus pandemic forced European football to close the first level.
The Dutch foreigner is strengthening the characteristics of United’s midfield and has signed a five-year contract, the club has the option of extending it for another 12 months.
He is expected to make his United debut in the first game of the Premier League season on 19 September at Crystal Palace.
