Glentoran Mick McDermott has praised the contribution of Dutch winger Elvio van Overbeek following his departure from the club.
Van Overbeek leaves the east side of Belfast to return home to Holland after spending a stint with the Irish Cup champions.
The former 26-year-old under-21 alien joined the Glens last summer from Telstar at the moment level of Dutch football after his career with PSV Eindhoven.
“Elvio has to go back to Holland, ” said McDermott. “During his time in the Oval, he has been a very sensible professional and a special user that everyone at Glentoran will miss. It’s been a great component of our good fortune this year.
“We welcome you at all times and wish each and every one of them good luck in their life and career.”
Croatian goalkeeper Marijan Antolovic left Glentoran last week, while Elliott Morris, Steven Gordon, Ciaran O’Connor, Keith Cowan, Mal Smith and Cameron Stewart have recently agreed to a contract extension.
Burundian midfielder Gael Bigirimana and Gibraltar Dayle Coleing goalkeeper have also joined the Glens.
Goalkeeper Coleing ( 24 years old) was thought to attract the attention of the groups in the Spanish department of Segunda B, however, he chose to leave Europa FC at his Gibraltar venue for El Oval.
“I’m proud to be here and excited to walk into a historic club. I can’t wait to get there,” Coleing said. “Mick and Paul (Millar) knew I was betting on Gibraltar and looked at my stats. I come from Europa FC, a very smart club in Gibraltar. Last year we played legia Warsaw in the Europa League qualifiers.
“I’m here for the club to win trophies.”
Linfield goalkeeper Gareth Deane has joined Coleraine on loan.
