Vasilios Barkas, the most insasure, revealed that he cannot bear to be a goalkeeper and was looking to be a star of the field.
Celtic remains engaged in talks with AEK star Athens about a possible five-million-pound deal to upgrade Fraser Forster, who is unlikely to return to Glasgow.
Barkas previously connected this year with a 7 million pound movement to Rome after impressive demonstrations for AEK. In an interview last month, the Greek alien revealed that he appreciated the applause for his performances at goal, preferring to play as a fielder.
He said: “I don’t like to bet as a janitor. It’s not fun to play in this position.
“If I could choose, I’d play defenseman or midfield. In fact, when I exercise with Greece, I play left in the sessions.
“Actually, I’ve become a ranger by mistake. I went to Kolonos to check it out when I was a kid and the coach put me on target because I had enough players, even though I was little at the time.
“The clay box and no grass. I came back here covered in cuts and bruises. But from there I saw and went to Atromitos to do tests and I went from there.
“The strikers are paid to score goals and my job is not to concede. But when you play at the level, the feeling you had as a child is lost. You get paid for a purpose.”
And Barkas admitted that he dreamed of betting in a top league a day after Rome’s interest nevertheless evaporated.
He said: “There is nothing express about Rome and there were other groups interested in me too. My father’s in that aspect of things.
“I am satisfied in the AEK and am pushing for a transfer. I’m already on a wonderful team.
“If I went abroad, I would like to join a club in England, Germany or Italy. It wouldn’t be a simple step, but I’d like to do it someday.”
