VCT Masters Madrid Day Five Recap: LOUD and Paper Rex Join Sentinels and Gen. G Esports in Playoffs

LOUD and Paper Rex joined Sentinels and Gen. G Esports in the VCT Masters Madrid playoffs after defeating EDward Gaming and Karmine Corp, respectively.

Here’s everything you want to know about today’s results:

Results: 13-2 Fridge, 13-3 Sunset

It was arguably one of the most one-sided matches in Valorant esports history. The Brazilians were unstoppable in the series as they lost only five rounds, four of which were on defense.

Gabriel “qck” Lima was the most productive player in the game, as the Brazilian finished with an ACS of 315 and 38 shots to his name. Meanwhile, Zhang “Smoggy” Zhao, EDward Gaming’s top-rated player with an ACS of 214.

Interestingly, LOUD eliminated EDward Gaming in August 2023 from Valorant Champions 2023 when the two faced off in the quarterfinals of the lower group.

Results: 13-10 Bind, 6-13 Lotus, 14-12 Ascent

Paper Rex knocked Karmine Corp out of VCT Masters Madrid a day after disposing of Team Heretics. This means that the Asian team has sent home the only two European groups participating in the competition.

The Sinholeorean organization got off to a smart start to the series, with the Asian-majority team temporarily taking an 8-1 lead. That’s when the Europeans woke up on the last hole at 9-6.

Just when the comeback seemed real, Paper Rex hit the set point. After 4 failed attempts to eliminate Bind, Paper Rex still managed to do so in the 23rd round of the adjustment.

However, Karmine Corp wasn’t going to give up. The Europeans would go on to win the second map of the series by winning 13-6 over Lotus. It is mentioned that Paper Rex lost on the Indian undercard to Team Heretics in yesterday’s match.

Ultimately, the closest map to the series was Ascent, as either group had to go to overtime to beat the winner.

Just when it looked like Karmine Corp had the momentum to close out the series (11-8), Paper Rex won the next 4 rounds to get in shape. Even though the Europeans took the match to overtime, Paper Rex was given the win after winning the last two rounds.

Unfortunately for the Europeans, the final result nullified the performances of Martin “marteen” Pátek and Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey, as both players managed 62 and 55 kills respectively.
