Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen ruled on Tuesday of Education on Tuesday when the reports of the German media connected the striker with a transfer to the Saudi club to Nassr, the manager Xabi Alonso said that the negotiations for the movement of the player were ongoing.
Boniface, 24, returned from injury on Saturday but on the bench for Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
Prior to his injury in November, he had scored 8 goals in 15 games in all competitions. Last season, he scored 14 goals in 23 championship games to finish as the most sensible scorer and played a central role in securing Leverkusen’s top Bundesliga name.
“The situation with [Boniface] does exist. Negotiations are ongoing with the club, so we have to wait. Our preparation for the match remains the same,” Alonso told reporters ahead of the Champions League clash against Sparta Prague on Wednesday.
“We have ready without Boni, of course. We will have to wait a little longer to see [how the stage takes place],” added the Spanish coach.
“After the injuries, Jeanu [Belocien] and Martin [Terrier], we have already said that we will have to be active in the movement window. There are three days and we are very close [to a decision].
“I am and I will be happy with the squad. Until now, all players feel that they are ready and they are an important part of the team.”
The Belociano defender suffered an ACL injury at the start of the year and winger Terrier suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon last week.
Leverkusen, eighth in the classification of the Champions League of more than thirteen points, has already reserved at least one position in the direct elimination series, while Sparta Prague, with 4 seven play points, eliminated.
The 8 most productive groups of the first phase qualify for the last 16, while those that ended from ninth to 24 entered the playoffs from February 11 to 12 and 18-19. The appellant’s draw is Friday.
