Al Shabab, who are recently ranked 11th in the Saudi league, announced on social media that Vítor Pereira, the 55-year-old Portuguese, has taken over as coach.
After almost a year as coach, Pereira, a two-time national champion with FC Porto in 2011-12 and 2012-13, returns to the paint after being unemployed since leaving Brazilian side Flamengo in April 2023.
Ten years later, the former midfielder who was born in Espinho returned to Saudi Arabia to coach Al-Ahli Jeddah in the 2013–14 season.

In Saudi football, Vítor Pereira joins his compatriots Luís Castro (Al Nassr), Pedro Emanuel (Al-Khaleej) and Jorge Jesus (Al Hilal).
The Portuguese coach’s CV includes spells at Santa Clara, Olympiacos (Greece), Fenerbahçe (Turkey), Sanjoanense, Sporting de Espinho, Munich 1860 (Germany), Shanghai SIPG (China) and Corinthians (Brazil).
On February 16th, Al Shabab will play Damac FC in his debut.
