San Antonio Spurs rookie half Victor Wembanyama is destined for a long and successful NBA career filled with many performances. Early feedback shows that the 19-year-old appears to be enjoying an NBA campaign, but there will be some developmental pains along the way. still
Unfortunately, on Wednesday night, Wembanyama had a night to face the best Minnesota Timberwolves, his fellow Frenchman and three-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert, for the second time on an NBA court.
Wembanyama finished with 12 problems on 4-of-13 shooting and 10 rebounds. Meanwhile, Gobert dominated the paint with 16 problems on 7-of-8 shooting, 21 rebounds and an astronomical plus-31 rating.
San Antonio hung tough for a while and was even tied with Minnesota going into the fourth, but the Timberwolves pulled away for the 102-94 win.
Fans noticed Wembanyama’s struggles on Wednesday night, unlike Gobert’s.
Gobert does what he does with Wemby. Great collective ball to get Wemby out. #LoupsDeRetour

I’m sure he’ll eventually become a smart player, but we have to admit how ridiculous the buzz around Victor Wembanyama was. Some call it the greatest hope of all time. Some say they would choose Wembanyama over LeBron James if they were in the same draft class. . . It’s stupid.
Rudy Gobert intimidates Wemby
Wemby wants to be better defensively, letting Gobert bully you like that is unacceptable.
Wembanyama is LeBron ??
Someone Wembanyama to come!! Damn man
Timberwolves did a good job of minimizing Wembanyama’s rim protection in the first half by making him guard in space. Naz and KAT exposed him a few times with their handle, speed, and extension finishes.
Victor Wembanyama continues to disappoint, but I think there’s a lot going on in the team. . . they don’t know how to play with Wemby, at least Sochan is off the bench.
They have figured out Wembanyama. Ant wanted to kill him ?
Of course, Wembanyama is only 20 games into his career, and he just finished a month in which he averaged a game-consistent 20. 1 points, 10. 3 rebounds and 2. 9 blocks. In fact, he is capable of more consistent performance, and we will see that very soon. .
The Spurs (3-17) have lost 15 games straight. They will look to break their losing streak on Friday when they host the Chicago Bulls.
