Video of demolition of ‘Uptown Manchester’ tower leaves others ‘unbelievers’

Residents say in this dramatic video why they are involved about the demolition of the luxury tower ‘Uptown Manchester’.

The development, which lies in Salford’s aspect of the inland ring road in the city centre, has been closed since last month after developers encountered an ‘engineering error’.

The plan is to build 3 towers of 10 floors, 8 floors and six floors, which will accommodate about 150 apartments at 220,000.

But the paintings stopped after developer Property Alliance Group (PAG) discovered a challenge that will require a partial demolition of the existing concrete tower.

The site is in a particularly sensitive location, surrounded by a busy road, Trinity Way, on the one hand, and a new property of approximately 70 townhomes in Irwell Riverside at the back.

Residents say they were informed of the problem, they did not know that the demolition would begin until heavy machinery arrived during the weekend of August.

Fences were erected around the concrete tower and a long-range excavator began to break pieces of the building.

A neighbor, who asked to be identified, shared photographs of the demolition that took place on the morning of Sunday, August 30, about 15 meters from his home.

It ends with a giant block of concrete falling from the most sensitive and destroying the fence below.

Residents were in the house and Trinity Way were open to traffic at the time.

“To be honest, incredulous, ” said the resident.

“I can’t think that tearing down giant pieces of concrete to tear them down from that height on the floor is the safest way to do the demolition, especially with so many houses around them and with the main road on the other side. “

PAG insists that there are no surrounding houses and that the design is safe.

The M. E. N revealed how citizens complained about the lack of data from PAG and Salford City Council.

They say they feel they’ve been assured enough that demolition will endanger them or their property.

Salford City Council described the construction as ‘structurally unhealthy’, but said it depended on the developer how it deserved to be demolished and whether an evacuation was necessary.

Following complaints, the demolition procedure was suspended before it resumed this week.

Trinity Way will be closed to traffic between Blackfriars Road in Salford and Great Ducie Street from 9. 30 a. m. at 3. 30 p. m. all week.

However, PAG’s road had been reopened on Tuesday.

It is understood that there is an “exclusion zone” of 50 m and that several citizens have been presented with hotels there for the duration of the works.

In a statement Tuesday, PAG said a complete demolition of the tower would not be necessary.

In a news story Thursday, PAG said: “Demolition exclusion zones and control measures were put in place before paintings began and were controlled through demolition agents and benches.

“Video images show fences that damage the concrete that were placed as an additional measure for debris at a low point as the paintings progressed. Although this concrete is located in the demolition exclusion zone carried, without delay we stopped the paintings to assess the situation.

“The paintings that continued that day were to make sure the site was finished at 4. 30pm. We fully appreciate that this incident was a great fear to local citizens and sincerely apologize.

“The partial demolition of the roof frame continued on Tuesday, September 15, at off-peak hours, from 11 a. . ‘ boundary on Sandywell Lane.

“As a protective measure, Trinity Way was closed on Monday, September 14 and Tuesday, September 15, outside rush hour. We expected the road to possibly have to be closed until Friday, September 18, but it reopened at 3:30 p. m. on September 15 after the final touch of work.

“During this period, we also provided hotel accommodation to 28 local residents, as well as breakfast, dinner and parking, and introduced it to the owners who had to take their pets with them.

All citizens have returned home. A solution is being developed that will allow us to adopt additional paints of the internal concrete structure, so it will not be mandatory to close Trinity Way and this will also guarantee the levels of vibration, noise and dust. maintained at general levels.

“Once we came back for any inconvenience these paintings have caused so far. This is a very complex project, but we are sure that all demanding technical situations will triumph in the coming weeks.

“Our main purpose is to continue to protect Americans and work vigorously with resident committee representatives to address any consideration and keep all stakeholders informed of our progress.
