Viktor Gyokeres Next odds: Arsenal are interested in the Swede

After joining Sporting CP from Coventry City 12 months ago, Gyokeres has enjoyed his first crusade in Portugal.

The striker scored 43 goals in 50 games and his team won the title and is now attracting the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

After opening his account for the new crusade in Sporting’s 3-1 home win over Rio Ave on Friday night, what does the future hold for Gyokeres?

Let’s take a look at the most recent odds, before looking at where the Swedish foreigner is most likely to play his football after the summer movement window closes at 11pm. on Friday, August 30.

Needless to say, Sporting CP would love to stay in Gyokeres. Few expected the centre-forward to do as well as last season.

Sporting are preparing for a crusade that includes the Champions League and it would be advantageous for the Portuguese club to retain their top scorer.

The Swedish foreigner is half prepared to stay in the Portuguese champions, but each and every player has his value and Portuguese clubs are willing to sell at the right price.

If Gyokeres is really looking for new pastures, Arsenal are at the forefront of his signing.

The Gunners are looking for a genuine striker to lead the line after Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus were used there last season.

Arsenal, who finished twice as champions with Manchester City, appear to have made Gyokeres a target, but there is still work to be done to reach an agreement.

It is a great season for Darwin Núñez, who many are risking for his future.

After a second season at Anfield that took a step forward but still frustrating, the Uruguayan foreigner could be sidelined if he manages to pay off this season.

However, reports last month warned that Arne Slot’s side were set to make a bid for the former Brighton player.

It is important that the Blues find a way to reduce their dependence on Cole Palmer, whose goals helped Chelsea finish last season in sixth place.

Gyokeres, who scored 21 goals for Coventry in the 2022/23 season, would shoulder part of the scoring load; Chelsea are not the favorites as things stand.

There are 16/1 odds for the Blues to win the race for the Swede’s signature.

Paris Saint-Germain are preparing for their first season without Kylian Mbappé, whose signing for Real Madrid was proven just after Euro 2024.

Others will have to step up now that the club’s most sensible goalscorer of all time has left the club, but PSG are yet to sign a striker this summer.

There is plenty of evidence of this at the time of writing, but PSG would have no difficulty paying the price Sporting is asking for.

Manchester City sold Julián Álvarez to Atlético Madrid for £82 million, so the Premier League champions could be looking for a replacement for the Argentine.

Gyokores is a possible contender, but odds of 20/1 recommend City be elsewhere.

It is difficult to imagine a striker like Gyokores joining City while Erling Haaland is at the club.

Pep Guardiola would arguably prefer an attacking midfielder to update Alvarez than a true midfielder.

Manchester United already signed Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna this summer and they do not seem to be interested in any other leaders.

Erik ten Hag will be without Rasmus Hojlund for the first few weeks of the season, but signing a new striker seems unlikely.

Gyokeres is priced at 33/1 to finish at Old Trafford, where the manager is striving to improve after finishing in eighth place last season.
