Villarreal have shown the signing of new goalkeeper Luiz Junior from Famalicao. The 23-year-old arrives from Famalicao on a six-year contract until 2030.
The Brazilian got here thanks to the Famalicao formula and has become their number one in 2020, accumulating 48 blank sheets since then. Tall and imposing, he is in a position to compete with Diego Conde for the top spot, although most expect him to play. Junior’s value is estimated at 12 million euros.

Meanwhile, Villarreal’s first wonderful goalscorer of the season, Arnaut Danjuma, who looked a bit like his old self against Atletico Madrid, has become a persona non grata at La Cerámica, after captain Raul Albiol reprimanded him in politeness two seasons ago, asking him for more commitment. Although his relationship with Albiol is still cold, Marcelino García Toral sat them both down and made them agree to put their disorders on them. The Villarreal coach recruited Danjuma to his cause thanks to his discipline, and Marcelino himself told the player that he would freeze him if something similar happened again.
Villarreal will not be threatening another poor season from Danjuma, however, and although they know that a replacement of similar quality is unlikely, with only two years left on his contract, they will be available for him. Lille, Olympique Lyon and Nottingham Forest have been showing interest lately, but it remains to be seen if they will make any moves for the 27-year-old.
Danjuma remains Villarreal’s most expensive signing from Bournemouth, costing him €23m. At first he seemed like a good price for cash, but his performance declined and showed little in the same way in loan spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.
