Volland leaves Leverkusen for Monaco

Monaco has completed the signing of Kevin Volland of Bayer Leverkusen.

German striker Volland, 28, has signed a four-year contract worth an estimated 15 million euros.

He is expected to be followed out of BayArena through Kai Havertz, who is said to be close to a hundred million euro move to Chelsea from the Premier League side.

Volland said: “I thank the Monegasque leaders for the trust they have shown.I am very happy to sign up for this club with a wonderful story and great ambitions.

“I followed the team’s first effects [in Ligue 1]. I can’t wait to sign up for the template and check out to bring my qualities.”

Volland has 77 goals and 62 assists in 247 Bundesliga games since debuting on Hoffenheim’s most sensible flight in 2011.

He moved to Leverkusen in 2016 and has 50 goals and 32 assists in all competitions for 4 seasons.

“Kevin has shown a wonderful identity with Bayer 04 in recent years.His disposition and determination towards the team and the club has been exemplary,” said Leverkusen sports director Simon Rolfes.

“But when Kevin had the opportunity to move to a club abroad, we accepted his request for change on the basis of an agreement acceptable to all parties.”

Monaco is third in Ligue 1 after tying with Reims and defeating Metz in their first competitive matches, former Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt coach Niko Kovac.

Volland can make his debut after the break abroad, with Nantes coming for Monaco at Stade Louis II on 13 September.
