Terrifying images emerged of a Celtic fan with his hair on fire during Wednesday night’s match against Hibs at Easter Road.
The marvellous army of roaming legions staged huge fireworks to demonstrate Leith’s purpose on the pitch ahead of the final 2-1 victory for Brendan Rodgers’ champions. They lit flares as players emerged from the tunnel for the Scottish Premiership.
Television footage and photographs from the night showed the south stand engulfed in smoke before the first whistle and now a short clip on social media shows one frantically trying to put out the flame in his head while other enthusiasts around him react in shock.
The debate over the use of pyrotechnics has been a point of contention. The friendly display by Rangers fans in Dundee earlier this season was the subject of a meeting with the likes of SPFL and Police Scotland on how to address the use of flares on the pitch.
Record Sport recently invited enthusiasts to participate in a poll with questions about pyrotechnics, and our respondents were completely AGAINST them.
Celtic won the match 2-1 thanks to two goals from Adam Idah, with Dylan Levitt scoring for the home side. The win leaves the champions three points adrift of rival Rangers at the top of the table, but the Hoops have played one more game.
