Watford ‘saddened’ by death of long-suffering fan in central attack match

Watford have paid tribute to fan Peter Arokiassay after he died from an attack on the centre who suffered a female attack last month.

The incident occurred last month at the match between the Hornets women’s team and Sheffield United in WSL 2. He suffered a central seizure during the game and was treated by paramedics, and an ambulance was called.

Sadly, Arokiasamy passed away as a result of the incident. Watford and his circle of relatives are now mourning the news.

A statement from the league said on Wednesday: “All members of Watford FC were deeply saddened to be informed of the death of a fan attending the match between Watford FC Women and Sheffield United on Sunday 19 November.

Peter Arokiasamy, a football enthusiast who had lived at Watford for 50 years, died in hospital after suffering a central attack in the first half of the attack at Vicarage Road Stadium.

“The St. John Ambulance corps at the scene were promptly alerted to the incident via stewardesses, paramedics and the Crowd Doctor were also called to the scene. An ambulance arrived shortly afterwards and transported Peter to Harefield Hospital.

“Watford FC representatives have been in contact with Peter’s family, who have expressed their gratitude to the club for the timely and professional care he has received, and our thoughts are with all the family and friends at this very difficult time. “

Watford eventually suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Blades in the match and have not competed in the league since. They played a WSL FA Cup just 3 days after the incident, but lost 3-0 to Crystal Palace.

The team returns to action this weekend when they travel to Southampton for a Women’s FA Cup clash, ahead of their next league match against London City next Sunday. Watford are in last place in the league lately with just one win in their first 11 games of the campaign.
