Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has joined Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 29-year-old, who left Watford at the end of last season, has signed a one-year contract with the Graham Potter team.
He may be online to make his Premier League debut against West Brom on 26 October.
“We are very happy that Danny will be with us. It will complement our existing writing options,” Potter said on brighton’s website.
“It has an undeniable pedigree, and it’s fast and technically very good. It will rise to our attack risk and we are very happy to raise a player of their delight and quality. “
Welbeck has only nine league games in the last two seasons, and has suffered serious injuries in recent years.
Welbeck, a Premier League winner with United in 2012-13, joined as a child, joining Arsenal in 2014 after being considered a surplus for Louis van Gaal’s needs.
He controlled 4 goals and 3 assists in 27 league games in his first season with the Gunners and scored against his former FA Cup club at Old Trafford, but missed the final weeks of the season with a knee injury that then required surgery.
Welbeck, who has decided 42 times for England, nevertheless returned in February 2016 to suffer some other knee injury that caused him to miss Euro 2016 and kept him out for almost a year.
He has discovered his way back to the Arsenal team and controlled 28 league games in 2017-18, but an ankle injury in a Europa League attack with Sporting CP ended his Gunners career.
After his contract with Arsenal expired, he signed for Watford, scoring three times in 20 games in all competitions before being released in October.
