What is StubHub? Ticket exchange website explained

STUBHUB is an open marketplace for enthusiasts to buy and sell tickets to thousands of shows around the world: concerts, sports, theater, and other entertainment events.

Here we take a look at StubHub and whether it’s a legit pricing provider.

In operation for more than two decades, StubHub is the world’s leading marketplace for enthusiasts to buy and sell tickets to all types of events.

StubHub merged with Viagogo, a multinational price ticket exchange and resale logo spanning more than 90 countries, in 2020.

StubHub adds fees to your entries, with the directory having the following rules:

StubHub was founded as an elegance project in March 2000 by Stanford MBA scholars Eric Baker and Jeff Fluhr.

In 2007, StubHub bought through eBay for $310 million (£242 million).

On 13 February 2020, StubHub was sold via eBay to Viagogo for over $4 billion (£3. 1 billion).

eBay Inc’s interim chief executive, Scott Schenkell, said at the time: “The finalized sale of StubHub to Viagogo is a wonderful outcome, both in terms of the $4. 05 billion sale value and StubHub’s prospects with its new owner.

“The StubHub transaction reinforces our commitment to creating percentages and is consistent with other moves we have made, such as margin improvements, percentage buybacks and dividend issuances.

“We are operating with discipline and focus, improving financial performance and delivering improved customer experiences.

“On behalf of the eBay team, we’re excited to see how StubHub evolves in its next phase and benefits fans, partners and employees.”

Following an investigation through the Autorité de los angeles concurrence et des marchés (CMA) into the merger of Viagogo and StubHub, we decided that StubHub’s foreign entities (all entities unless located in the United States and Canada) deserve to be divested and independent of StubHub and Viagogo.

The new independent organization includes corporations in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and several overseas markets.

As of September 2021, all StubHub entities outside the U. S. The U. S. and Canada have been approved for a new independent group: StubHub International.

StubHub International acquired through Digital Fuel Capital, an investment trading firm aimed at becoming a leader in the e-commerce space, on September 8, 2021.

Carson Biederman, President of Digital Fuel, said, “We are thrilled with the new owners of StubHub International. After a long era and a long process, the groups in London, Madrid, Bilbao and Berlin will now shape a new independent company.

“Together, we look forward to growing StubHub International as an agile and competitive ticket marketplace focused on helping fans access live experiences and transfer tickets securely.”

Wayne Grierson, General Manager of StubHub International said: “It is our mission to help fans access incredible experiences. We are excited to become independent, as we help fans return to concerts, theatres and stadiums.”
