Porto manager Sergio Conceicao has accused Mikel Arteta of using an offensive word in Spanish referring to his late mother after Arsenal’s fiery Champions League win on Tuesday.
Conceicao and Arteta met after Arsenal’s penalty shootout win that put them in the round of 16, and after pointing the finger at the Gunners boss, Conceicao hit him in his post-match press conference.
“He insulted my family and in the end I told him ‘be careful,’ because the one he insulted is no longer with us,” she said. “He’s worried about coaching his team more and more because he has a lot of individual qualities to do that. “

Conceicao’s parents died when he was a teenager: his father died in a tragic twist of fate on a motorcycle when he was 16 and his mother died as a result of long-term fitness disorders when he was 18.
The Porto boss declined to elaborate on what he believes Arteta said, but the Mail Online reports that a source close to the former Portugal foreigner believed in the word “your mother’s shell”, a word that literally translates to “your motherly shell”. however, it is considered a reference to the vagina in Spanish-speaking countries.
Arsenal have fiercely defended their manager and denied saying anything offensive towards Conceicao. The Gunners manager declined to comment on the matter in his post-match press conference.
UEFA is unlikely to take any action in the wake of the incident, and Conceicao has a long history of speaking out after past defeats, joining Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola.
But UEFA insists it is unlikely to interfere unless a coach makes comments to referees and no action is likely to be taken.
