NORMAN – Few names in OU 2023 recruiting elegance have generated as much excitement as Peyton Bowen.
Guyer, a five-star protection from Denton, Texas, was ranked 17th overall in the country. He was a significant addition for OU head coach Brent Venables, but he made sure to be fair to Bowen in the recruiting process.
“If you don’t come, I’m still recruiting your brother,” Venables told Bowen.
Venables has stayed true to his word.
Eli Bowen, Peyton’s younger brother, officially joined OU’s 2024 recruiting class on National Signature Day on Wednesday.

On paper, Eli’s call doesn’t generate as much excitement as Peyton’s. He is rated as a four-star cornerback through ESPN and Rivals, however, he has a three-star tag on other sites such as 247Sports and On3. com.
Still, Bowen’s addition to the OU’s 2024 elegance is exciting for Venables.
“(He’s) one of America’s soccer players,” Venables said Wednesday. “Just a wonderful, wonderful player. “
Bowen had a solid senior season at Denton Guyer. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound cornerback recorded 34 tackles (two for loss), 3 interceptions and six dropped passes.
Bowen received offers from programs such as Notre Dame, Oregon and Texas A&M. But he ultimately narrowed his list down to Texas and OU, and he committed to the latter on Aug. 24.
Although he doesn’t have the most productive size, Bowen is an athletic playmaker who can also contribute to special groups as a punt returner. And now that he’s signed with OU, he’ll play with his seniors. brother in Norman.
“He’s probably had as many ball alterations over the last few years as any defensive back I’ve seen,” Venables said. “It will be great to have him with his brother here at the best school. “
