Canada international Tajon Buchanan says he “can’t wait to get started” at his new club after joining Serie A giants Inter Milan.
The wideman joined the Italian league leaders on January 5 on a deal until 2028 for a reported fee of €10 million ($10.9m/£8.6m).
“Never stop dreaming,” Buchanan told fans after signing for Belgian club Brugge, where he spent more than two years.
Buchanan will have watched his new teammates battle to a 2-1 league win over Verona on January 6, but he was not ready to be part of the matchday squad so soon after his transfer.
He was included in the squad of the day when Inter secured a 5-1 win over Monza, but Buchanan was an unused substitute.

Buchanan was involved in the line-up after signing for Inter, but featured in the 2-1 league win at home to Verona when Davide Frattesi scored the winner in the 93rd minute.
The 24-year-old had returned to Belgium to obtain the necessary permission for non-EU citizens wishing to live in Italy, according to several reports in his new country.
Match fitness could also be an issue for Buchanan because he has not played for more than a month, having been on the bench or absent from squads entirely while Brugge were negotiating his transfer with Inter.
Buchanan, of the opposing team at Monza, has not yet entered the box and remained as an unused substitute.
Supporters are hopeful that Buchanan may feature when Inter face Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final on Friday, January 19 at 8:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. ET).

Buchanan experienced an exceptional time at Syracuse University with the institution’s soccer team, and in 2019 he was chosen in the MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, marking the start of his professional journey.
In Fooxborough, Buchanan thrived by making 67 appearances and scoring 12 goals before earning his first call-up to Canada’s senior team in June 2021. In the past he represented his U23 team at the Olympic Qualification Championships.
Known for his speed, one-on-one skills and team-oriented approach, Buchanan demonstrated his prowess at the 2021 Gold Cup, helping Canada reach the semifinals and scoring his first goal for the national team.
In 2022, he moved on to Europe by joining Club Brugge. After earning a league name in 2021/22, he made his UEFA Champions League debut and secured a place in Canada’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar, a crucial occasion for his country, after lacking the tournament since 1986.
Buchanan explained in an interview with Brugge when he arrived what kind of player he was. “I’m a versatile player,” he said.
“I can play in a number of roles but my aim is just to learn as much as possible, make myself available for the team and adapt to a new style of play.
“I’m a very direct player and I like to face the defender and work in the intermediate spaces around the opponent’s penalty area, creating numerical superiority. I played right-back last season; I can definitely in the defensive phase. »

He alluded to how excited he is to share the San Siro atmosphere with Inter’s fans. “Honestly, I don’t know what to expect because I’ve never experienced anything like this before in my life,” he said.
